Ingredients
1 cup medium sized prawns, shelled & de veined
2 medium sized tomatoes, chopped fine without seeds
handful of shallots,sliced
1 inch ginger piece, chopped
4 cloves of garlic,crushed
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
2 tsp kashmiri chilly powder
1/2 tsp garam masala
3 tsp oil
1tsp lime juice
salt
Method
Heat oil in a medium skillet and fry ginger and garlic for one minute.Add shallots and roast till light brown.Add tomato pieces and sauté till soft and light brown.Add turmeric ,chilly powders and roast till oil clears and raw smell disappears. Now drop in the prawns and salt. Sauté well in high heat for 2 minutes till the prawns release water. Now reduce the heat and cook closed for 3-4 minutes.Open and sauté again. If the prawns are cooked and water is still there, increase the heat and roast it till the masala gets coated over the prawns (don't overcook since it will make prawns harder). Now sprinkle the garam masala powder and check the salt.Switch off the stove.Mix in the lime juice.Serve with rice/chapathi/roti.
