Here is an exotic recipe from spice shahar Hyderabad.If you are a fish savvy and looking for a varied recipe to try,this is yours.Cooked in a blend of spices and balanced with succulent coconut milk,this curry makes an excellent pair with rice or roti...Do try.
Ingredients
500 gm fish,cut into medium pieces
2 medium onions,sliced finely
Small piece of ginger,crushed
3 garlic cloves,crushed
3/4 tsp kashmiri chilly powder
2 medium tomatoes,blanched, peeled and chopped
3/4 cup coconut milk
1 cup water
Oil,salt as required
Grind to fine paste
Gooseberry sized tamarind soaked in little water
3 tsp coriander seeds
1 dry red chilly
1 tsp cumin seeds
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
Method
Grind the ingredients mentioned in the particular section along with water to a fine paste.Keep ready.Heat oil in a curry pot and roast the sliced onions in medium heat till golden brown.Add crushed ginger and garlic to this and continue roasting for another one minute.Add kashmiri chilly powder and salt.Saute till the raw smell disappears.Add the ground paste at this stage.Roast this adding 2-3 tsp water till the masala is well cooked and release a nice aroma.Throw in the chopped tomatoes and roast till it blend well with other spices.Pour 1 cup of water and bring it to boil.Drop the fish chunks and allow it to simmer for 5 more minutes.Keep the pot closed.You may rotate the pan in between.Reduce the heat and pour the coconut milk.Shake the pot gently and allow it to simmer for another 2 minutes. Switch off.Serve with rice or roti.
